Davenport And Chasing Aaron Burr

 When in 1807 Gen. Wilkinson sent a detachment of soldiers down to New Orleans to arrest Aaron Burr, late vice president, and his alleged associates on a charge of treason, Sergt. Davenport was put in command of the detail, but Burr escaped before the arrival of this detachment, surrendering himself to the civil authorities at Nachez.  Sergt. Davenport, however, succeeded in arresting Dr. Bollman and several others who were charged with being conspirators. Burr was tried and acquitted and the others were liberated [Source?]
